Specialist care for bunions, sports injuries, arthritis and other complex foot and ankle problems

Miss Thomson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle conditions, based in Sheffield. She treats both NHS and private patients across the Yorkshire region.
She completed her orthopaedic surgical training in the Midlands after graduating from the University of Leicester. During her training she developed a strong interest in foot and ankle surgery and went on to complete several specialist fellowships to further develop her expertise.
Miss Thomson undertook advanced foot and ankle training under the mentorship of Miss Patricia Allen, a past President of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS). She was also awarded the prestigious Andrew Wines Fellowship in Sydney, Australia, supported by a BOFAS Gold Travelling Fellowship, where she gained experience in complex foot and ankle surgery and the treatment of sports injuries, including those affecting professional athletes.
Alongside her specialist training in foot and ankle surgery, Miss Thomson also gained experience in the management of major trauma at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and participated in humanitarian surgical work in Nigeria during her training.
Miss Thomson currently works within the NHS at Rotherham General Hospital and Montagu Hospital, and sees private patients at Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield, Park Hill Hospital in Doncaster, and other clinics across the region, providing patients throughout Yorkshire with access to specialist foot and ankle care.
Her clinical practice focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of foot and ankle problems, including arthritis, sports injuries, tendon problems, bunions, flat feet, high arches, and ankle instability. She also performs both traditional and minimally invasive surgical procedures, including ankle replacements and complex reconstructive surgery.
In addition to her clinical work, Miss Thomson is actively involved in education and training. She has developed an educational app for medical students and trainee surgeons, has served as an honorary lecturer at the University of Leicester, and is an examiner for the FRCS Orthopaedic Viva course. She also leads the training and development of resident doctors in orthopaedics at Rotherham General Hospital.
Miss Thomson is the current Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Lead for the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and has contributed to orthopaedic research with several published articles and book chapters.
